I received an Additional/Interim tax bill(s) at my property address. I have an Escrow set up with my lending institution to pay any property taxes due. Why did I receive the bill(s) at the property address?
All Additional/Interim Tax Bill(s) are mailed to the property owner at the property address. Because lending institutions have different policies, contact the institution and forward the tax bill(s) to them immediately, if applicable.
How are Interim tax bills calculated?
Interim tax bills are calculated using the occupancy date issued by the municipality as the start date of the bill. Township/Borough Interim taxes are calculated based on a calendar year, January to December. School Interim taxes are calculated based on a fiscal year, usually July to June the following year.
Why did I receive Interim tax bills for multiple years?
Example: If your Occupancy Date was in April, a School tax bill would be generated for 2 Months (May & June). A second School bill would be generated for the current year for 12 Months (July - the following June).
I received an Assessment Reduction on a property I own. Do I have to submit any paperwork in order to receive my refund?
No. The County Property Assessment Office will send all information regarding the assessment change to our office for processing.
Why is my School District Homestead Exclusion different from my County Homestead Exclusion?
The County Homestead Exclusion is a defined amount set and approved by county officials. The School District Homestead Exclusion is calculated each year based on monies received from the State of Pennsylvania that are generated from gambling revenues.
Why is my School District Homestead Exclusion different from last year?
The Exclusion is calculated by the amount of money your school district receives from the state, and is then divided by the number of Homestead properties within the district.
I was approved for the Homestead Exclusion, why doesn’t my School tax bill reflect this reduction?
To receive school property tax relief for tax years beginning July 1, an application for homestead or farmstead exclusions must be filed by the preceding March 1. The School District received a certified list of approved properties on May 1st that is used for the calculation of their Homestead Exclusion. Note: The Homestead Exclusion cannot be applied to Interim tax bills given the above information.
Where can I find the Homestead Exclusion Application?
Please contact your County Treasurer’s office or check their website to see if they have a form available.
Why did I receive a Reminder Notice?
Reminder Notices are generated prior to the end of the Face Tax Period. These notices are sent (as a courtesy) to the property or owner mailing address and not to lending institutions. At the time the notice is generated, no payment was received for the tax year mentioned on the notice.
I am selling or refinancing my property and the lending institution and/or closing company is requesting tax receipts. What should I do?
Tell the lending institution and/or closing company to contact us in order to request a Tax Certification on the property so that the information is communicated properly.
I paid off my Mortgage, how do I update my mailing address in order to receive my tax bills?
Please
Contact our office. You must also notify the County Treasurer’s office in order to guarantee the correct address is used in the future for all taxing bodies.
