Stormwater is water from precipitation that flows across an impervious surface that is unable to seep into the ground naturally.
What is an impervious surface?
Impervious surfaces are hard, non-porous or compacted surfaces that prevent water from soaking into the ground. Examples but not limited to: paved roads and parking lots, roofs, sidewalks, driveways, sports courts, decks/patios etc…
How is a Stormwater Fee calculated?
The fee each property is assessed is based on the amount of impervious surface on a property. Due to slight variations of impervious surface in residential properties, single-family homes were assigned an averaged value. Anything more than the average value, the municipality has a multiplier based on square footage. You can find additional information on your municipality’s website.
